Destination Experience
Visiting the Inca Bridge Q’eswachaka is a journey into the living history of the Tahuantinsuyo. Located in the province of Canas, this suspension bridge is woven every year by local communities, following an ancestral tradition preserved for centuries, using only ichu, the high-Andean grass.
Q’eswachaka is not a replica or a museum piece: it is the last functional Inca bridge in Peru, renewed collectively through a cultural ceremony recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Along the route, travelers cross four interconnected lagoons, surrounded by serene landscapes and natural habitats for high-Andean birds. Upon arrival, the bridge’s length and the depth of the canyon it spans are striking. Walking across it is a unique experience that combines tradition, adrenaline, and authenticity, ideal for travelers seeking real cultural encounters.
