Destination Experience
Waqrapukara is one of the most mystical and breathtaking archaeological sites in southern Peru. Its name means “fortress shaped like horns”, referring to the two massive rock formations that crown the complex, resembling either the horns of a bull or the outstretched wings of an Andean condor.
Located high above the Apurímac Canyon, this Inca sanctuary combines ceremonial architecture, agricultural terraces, sacred enclosures, and natural viewpoints, all perfectly integrated into a dramatic landscape. The surroundings are impressive: deep cliffs, rugged mountains, highland lagoons, and vast grasslands where alpacas graze freely.
It is an ideal destination for travelers seeking authentic, lesser-known places filled with history and spiritual energy, far from crowded tourist routes.
