Destination Experience

In Taquile, you will discover a society organized under ancestral principles where textiles, mainly woven by men, are considered Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO. Each garment communicates identity, marital status, and social hierarchy.

Itinerary
Hotel pick-up (Puno): Pick-up from your hotel located in downtown Puno and transfer to the main port to board the tourist boat.
Navigation and visit to the Uros Islands: Beginning of the journey across the lake until reaching the famous floating islands.
Here we will learn about:
- How the islands are built with blocks of totora roots.
- The homes, schools, and community organization.
- Free time for photographs and interaction with local families.
- Optional ride on a traditional totora reed boat (additional cost).
Navigation to Taquile: We continue sailing for approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes, enjoying the highland landscape and the vast blue expanse of the lake.
Arrival at Taquile: Disembarkation and gentle, progressive walk toward the main square. During the walk, the guide will explain:
- The social organization of the community.
- The meaning of traditional textiles.
- The cultural importance of the island in the Andean world.
Typical lunch: Lunch at a local restaurant with panoramic views of the lake, tasting traditional dishes prepared by the community.
Return to Puno: Descent to the port and boarding for the return trip.
