General Information
The archaeological complex of Sillustani is located 34 km from the city of Puno, on the shores of the beautiful Umayo Lagoon.
This pre-Inca site is famous for its impressive chullpas, funerary towers built by the Colla culture and later used by the Incas. Its cylindrical architecture, some reaching up to 12 meters in height, demonstrates advanced knowledge in engineering and Andean worldview.
It is an ideal excursion for travelers with limited time who wish to learn about an important historical legacy of the Peruvian highlands.

Sillustani was an important ceremonial cemetery where elite figures were buried. The chullpas are strategically oriented toward the east, linked to solar worship and the belief in life after death.
In addition to its archaeological value, the landscape is one of the most photogenic in the highlands: gentle hills, Andean fields, and the vastness of Umayo Lagoon create a natural setting of great beauty.
